None of my Business S5:E8 Allen Traylor

On this weeks episode, I have the founder and owner of Upcycle Allen Traylor. I had a lot of fun getting to know Allen and learning his story and he gives a seriously great interview.

His path has been full of fun stories which makes this episode great to listen to. Allen is from Idaho and is a product of the College of Idaho where he cut his entrepreneurial teeth. He found himself in some leadership positions and forming some clubs on campus. Allen seemed to have a flair for making something out of nothing.

With that, he built a craigslist, before there was a craigslist. He was selling peoples stuff on a website when before most people knew what the internet even was. It took off! He learned that it wasn’t quite scalable due to technological constraints.

Allen got a degree in business administration and after finding out he didn’t want to sell cell phones. He soon went into a company called Healthwise as an account manager where he got some great experience and a had a great mentor.

Allen enjoyed working for Healthwise, who creates content for places like WebMD. He enjoyed being in this field enough to explore some next level options. So, he took a leap of faith and applied for post grad work at Johns Hopkins University. He was accepted and they packed their bags and moved to Baltimore.

It was out east that Allen got a great deal of business experience, policy experience, political experience and eventually becoming the COO of Total Child health. That path came to a close due to a difference in opinion on what direction to take the company. It was time to move home

It was upon their return that Upcycle was born. He had a buddy drag him to a spin class one day when he lived out east and he loved it. He started seeking out spin studios when he was traveling. When they did move back to Boise, he noticed a glaring vacancy in our business landscape and filled it. Upcycle was born.
