I caught up with a good friend of mine, Brandon Wright. Brandon was on the show back in season one when he owned Ultra Clean and we had a great conversation about building and growing a business.
Last year, Brandon sold this business, took some time off for himself and his family, and decided to jump back into the fray. He bought a 60 year old plumbing company this spring AND he is a first year apprentice. Some may say that sounds backwards. I think it makes sense. People can learn to be plumbers. I believe it’s harder to learn how to run a great business.
We discuss what is was like selling his business. We talk about how he got it ready to sell and how he went through the process. Brandon then shares what it was like buying a business. What kind of things were the deciding factors for him to want to purchase a company that he had little knowledge about?
We also talk about what it was like on his first day, when he lost 33% of his team. I always enjoy talking shop with Brandon about business. We could sit all day and discuss marketing, sales, employee benefits, buying businesses, leadership, etc. I want to thank Brandon for coming in and sharing what the past year has been like for him and his businesses. This conversation is loaded with value. Get it and listen.
