None of my Business S5:E10- Nate Morris

On this episode I have the founder and owner of RestoClean. I met Nate Morris recently after his marketer stopped by my office. I had such a good experience with her, I actually reached out to her to thank her for how she was taking care of our shared clients.

She told me a little about Nate and I realized that I had to meet him and have him on the podcast. Nate is one of those entrepreneurs that has a unique mix of hard to find qualities. He is driven, hard working, empathetic, a life long learner, business savvy and he understands his shortcomings. It’s no wonder that his business is growing at the pace it is.

We talk about how he started off as a one man carpet cleaning company and turned it into a 36 man full blown restoration company. That doesn’t happen overnight and we discuss what his path has been like so far. He knew the profit margins were greater in restoration and he also enjoyed the work.

Nate is really good with data and analysis. He gives some great advice on how to dive into the data that is important. He discusses how to read it, what to look for and how to build systems and optimize your business.

One of my favorite parts of this episode is when he shares a story of when he got a call at 4:30am. It was for a water loss in student housing that was affecting dozens of units covering 5 stories. He took the job and told the people involved that he can get this 20 day job done in 10 days. They thought he was nuts. You can listen to how he kept his word and got it done. It’s quite impressive.

We talk marketing too. Nate is really sharp when it comes to Google Ad words. He talks about how he learned to utilize this strategy and how he uses it proficiently to get in front of new clients.

Another thing that he did that was smart, was he on-boarded a cabinet maker into his business to cut out the middle man. This is very unique for his industry. Most restoration companies will sub this work out. Nate’s company has figured out a way to infuse a ton of value for his clients and the insurance companies that he works with to give a solid customer experience.
