None of my Business S9:E11- Alison Patt

On this episode, I had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with Alison Patt, President of Thomas Cuisine. We cover alot of really important ground on the topics of communication, sales, leadership and more. Below was the roadmap that I laid out for us. Thank you Alison for coming on the show!

Where are you from and how did you get to Idaho?

What do you do today?

Let’s go all the way back.  What was the first job you had that led you down the path you’re currently on.?

Let’s talk about leadership.  How do you come into a role like the one you have, and lead?  How do you get some quick wins?  How do you earn early trust?

You offer a product that, I think is very very important.  Healthy food.  It comes at a significant cost.  Tell me about your sales process.  Salespeople in these situations are told to “sell value”.  How do you do that?

Walk me through your thought process when it comes to chasing goals.  How do you set them? How to you plan to achieve them?  How do assess what is working, what isn’t, and what just needs more time?

How can you identify early if they are going to be a good fit or not?

Let’s talk communication.  How do you effectively communicate in a company of your size.  How do you know that you are hearing the real issues from the field and that those in the field, are being heard?

What are the challenges with working in a family business?

My wife owns a small business in the medical field and I have watched her have to overcome certain things because she is a woman.  Have there been challenges for you this way?  What would you say to a promising young female who wants to hold a position like yours?  Would your advice be any different if it was a young promising male?
