None of my Business S9:E4- Erth Beverage Company

I had a chance to sit down and have a conversation with Sam and Eric Herrera and what a joy it was. There is so much to like about these two and I was fully loaded with curiosity and armed with questions.

Sam and Eric Herrera

Here was my line of questioning:

Where are you from and how did you get to Idaho?

What were you doing before ERTH and what led to starting it?

What it is like running a business together?  What advice would you give to couples who are considering being in business together?  What do you each bring to the table?

What is gods name is a switchel!?

What role did the pandemic play in your company?

What’s the most successful way to work a Farmer’s Market?

When did you know that this was destined for more than just selling at the market?

What is the greatest challenge about getting into a store?  Like the Co-op or Whole Foods or even Albertsons.

It seems that beverages have exploded over the last few years (or maybe 25 years).  Through my limited eyes as a consumer, I think the tipping point was in the mid 90’s when microbrewing out of the PNW was deemed cool.  From there, it’s been a blitz.  Most recently, hard seltzers were the rage.  Also, bottled water and carrying a drink everywhere became normalized.  Where does your drink fit in the lexicon of drinks?

Talk to me about how important it is to you to use locally sourced products.  What are the pros and cons of using these products?

Your biggest marketing success?

Thank you to Sam and Eric for coming on and sharing their story and bringing such great energy to the show.
