None of my Business S6:E11 Sean Hancock

On this episode, I sit down with Sean Hancock who is the founder and owner of Recycled Minds Comedy. I decided to reach out to Sean after seeing him perform and then connecting with him on social media. He seemed like the kind of guy that I wanted to get to know better and I am very happy I reached out.

Sean has a great story. His path to comedy and improv started in high school and was built on the encouragement of his siblings. He started doing plays in high school and he enjoyed it so much that he got involved in community theater while still in school.

He took his talents to Los Angeles with designs of getting discovered. This chapter in his journey was fun at the beginning but ended up being different than he expected. This is where he eventually got heavily into improv through the Groundlings and United Citizens Brigade. These are big-time improv programs where some big names got their start.

It was during this time he learned that he had the chops to not only perform well, but to teach the skills of improv. Sean eventually left LA and came back to Idaho. He tried out stand up comedy for a short period of time but he kept going back to improv.

Sean opened Recycled Minds in 2016. He offers everything from improv classes, they do comedy shows and they also do corporate training. The foundation of improv offers some very important lessons that can be useful in all different parts of your life. It’s about helping your partners on stage, look good. It’s setting them up to succeed through listening and giving.

This is something that I believe the world needs ALOT more of. In a day an are where we seem more separate and things are more divisive, Sean is teaching us how to come together and support each other. He told me everything can be a gift.

Sean is helping improv amateurs support their fellow actors. He is helping bosses support their employees, husbands support their spouses and parents support their children. Doesn’t that sound nice?

My genuine thanks to Sean for coming on and sharing his story. Connect with him below and check out Recycled Minds Comedy.
