None of My Business S7:E8- Seth Preus

On this episode I have my new friend Seth Preus. Seth is an insurance agency owner, an entrepreneur and founder of Mivation. This is part one of a two part interview in which pt. 2 can be found on the Simply Explaining Insurance podcast.

Seth and I talk building and growing a business here in part 1. He talks about earning his sales chops selling Kirby vacuums door to door. I believe anyone that can do that job for more than 60 days is on their way to learning all of the really hard parts about being a great salesperson. Seth did it for 3 years.

We talk about having belief in your product and how important that is. “Your potential clients can tell if you don’t believe and if you don’t believe, your just a con man”. Seth goes on and says that it is activity that will produce sales. You have to know your numbers. How many dials, how many emails, how many door knocks to you need to make to hit your numbers?

Delegating is the next skill that is important if you want rapid growth. Great entrepreneurs surround themselves with others who make them look good. Great entrepreneurs know what they are good and and delegate everything else.

That last thing we cover is important for what is happening in the first half of 2020 with so many people working from home. Seth talks about how to keep your team motivated and engaged even when we aren’t seeing them right now.
