On the podcast this week I sat down with Shannon Robnett who founded and owns Phoenix Commercial Construction. Shannon’s entrepreneurial body of work is impressive. His first business dates back to a sno cone shack when he was 13 years old.
Growing up in a household with parents who had their own businesses and seeing his brother’s success in construction, Shannon joined forced with his brother and they started building houses together.
After a short period of time, he was drawn to construction and development on the commercial side and branched out on his own. He had a great 7 year run, but like many and most in construction companies, he ran into the mother of all dead ends. The Great Recession hit and he was staring at a crossroads.
He surveyed the business landscape and saw a need for mortgage modification. He built a company from scratch, in an business he hadn’t worked in with a partner and set off helping people stay in there homes. Shannon did his due diligence and learned all he needed to in a short period of time in a complicated field.
After the economy stabilized, he shifted gears again. He saw a need to help others get housing to North Dakota as the oil towns were popping up. He built one of the largest trucking companies in the state during this time.
After he got out of the trucking business, he returned home to construction and built Phoenix Commercial Construction. I am really impressed with what Shannon has done in a tumultuous economic time. My thanks to Shannon for coming on and sharing his story.
